Iris in 2020
Despite the unusual circumstances Iris has had a wonderful 2020 so far. Before her 100th birthday on 12th March a number of presentations were made to her to mark the occasion including from the local church (which is opposite to the garden), the active retirement group and the day care centre which she attends once a week. Iris received almost 100 birthday cards and on the day a small family celebration was had in Dunbrody House Hotel.

When asked about her long life Iris would comment about her wonderful husband and loving family along with the fact that she believes in moderation in everything.

She is very appreciative of her life in general and would constantly be glowing in praise for the local people of the Enniscorthy area and the general kindness and friendliness shown to her and Victor since they retired here in 1984. It is for this reason that Iris wishes to give something back and the garden has been a great passion for the past 36 years of retirement.

She has even invited the president Michael D. Higgins, to the garden opening, who has responded to say that he cannot make any commitments for such an event at the moment. Iris still hopes.
The garden is looking wonderful! Well done to the gardeners, photographers, tech support etc for bringing reality to us virtually. We so looking forward to seeing you in person Grandma and thrilled to see your garden flourishing. Love Rachel, Padraig, Kevin, Adam and Helen
Wonderful example of enjoying everything around you and benefiting from your circumstances while being a major contributor. Happy Birthday and many more.
